Urinary Incontinence

11 million women in the U.S. suffer from stress urinary incontinence with a significant impact to their quality of life.

ETHICON Women's Health & Urology offers women a less invasive procedure that can be performed using local anesthesia in an outpatient setting. More than 650,000 women have been treated with the ETHICON Women's Health & Urology device. Our solution has a long-term record of safety and efficacy and helps women remain dry years after the treatment. This is approximately a 30 minute permanent solution for stress urinary incontinence.

1997 ETHICON Women's Health & Urology brings to market GYNECARE VERSAPOINT Bipolar Electrosurgery System, the first and only vaporising, bipolar technology for hysteroscopy.

1998 ETHICON Women's Health & Urology introduces GYNECARE THERMACHOICE* Uterine Balloon Therapy System, the first global endometrial device approved in the United States for treating menorrhagia in pre-menopausal women.

1999 ETHICON Women's Health & Urology introduces GYNECARE TVT* Tension-free Support for Incontinence, one of the first minimally invasive surgical treatments for correcting female stress urinary incontinence that can be performed under local anesthesia and in an outpatient setting.

2000 ETHICON Women's Health & Urology reaches 15,000 consultants trained worldwide.
